Yes, you're right, MeMi is not my name, but you can call me that. The meaning comes from another nickname: Menina Mineira, which means "Miner Girl" (or Girl from Minas Gerais, a Brazilian State). Ironically, it represents how I see myself - finding gold in almost everything in front of me! Nothing should be wasted.
There is this saying back in Brazil: "Necessity is the mother of creativity." My art is extremely related to my roots. Giving new life to the old and used pieces with bright colors, textures, creating new recipes with unexpected ingredients, taking advantage out of any source around us; this is what I do most of the time.
